• Wood fibre

  The wood fibre produced in our own factory can be used as litter in chicken runs or horse stables, or in cages for pets (rodents). Wood fibre is also the most widely used product at poultry farms. Wood fibre is also used at stables because it prevents the airways from becoming irritated as well as being soft and comfortable for the animals’ joints. The product is also incredibly absorptive.

• Woodchips

  The woodchips or wood shavings supplied by Houtvezelhandel Honingh are suitable for use as litter for all kinds of animals, especially horses, chickens and other livestock. One of its best properties is that it does not irritate or inflame the animals’ airways. What’s more, it’s incredibly absorptive: it absorbs three times as much liquid as straw. For this reason, woodchips are recommended for stables and poultry farms.
  
  The dust-free shavings are sieved, compressed and packed in easily stackable packages. This promotes optimal use of storage space. For our white shavings, we only use soft wood types; the mixed shavings may also contain small quantities of other pure wood types.

• Sawdust

  Sawdust supplied by Houtvezelhandel Honingh is the hygienic solution for dairy farmers and pig farmers. The most important property it has is that it optimally binds liquids and odours. This is largely because of its large active surface area and high degree of dryness.
  
  For livestock farmers with cubicle sheds, sawdust offers the additional advantage that it sticks to the floor surface preventing it from becoming slippery. As a fine-grained product produced from softwood, sawdust is also economical to use.

• Flax

  Flax is especially suitable for use in stables. Houtvezelhandel Honingh supplies it in a dust-free, fully compostable and environmentally friendly form.
  
  Flax is a centuries-old crop that grows well on clay soils found in the Southern Netherlands (Zeeland Flanders), Belgium and Northern France. The residual marrow of the flax stems is used.
